Flova is software for visualizing and analyzing blood flow patterns, based on the time dependent blood flow and vascular shape data acquired by three-dimensional cine phase-contrast MR imaging (3D cine PC MRI) in DICOM format. Flova enables us to directly analyze the blood flow in the human body, which is useful for understanding in vivo hemodynamics. Flova is composed of two subsystems, extraction Phase of Flova (ePF) and analysis Phase of Flova (aPF). In the ePF, vessel surfaces are generated from the DICOM images, and in the aPF, the flow velocity distributions and Wall Shear Stress (WSS) in the blood vessel are calculated and displayed on the monitor.

Methods and Features
Loading the DICOM images obtained by 3D cine PC MRI
Interactive visualization of the flow patterns
Automatic and manual 3D vessel segmentation
Analysis of the statistical values such as WSS, relative pressure and others

extraction PF analysis PF
"extraction PF" generates the vessel surfaces from DICOM images and exports the geometric modeling data and the distribution of blood velocities. Blood vessel wall and other regions are automatically segmented using several graphical algorithms. "analysis PF" visualizes the blood flow patterns in several ways, such as stream lines, path lines and streak lines. WSS is calculated from the blood velocity and the vessel wall geometry. The distribution of relative pressure is also acquired.
